How to end animal homelessness

dogs enter shelters each year and around 4 million are euthanized, it is 1 in 2 that have a chance at a better life. Those are startling figures! Around 500,000 monthly around the United States alone are euthanized. If you are a breeder or buying from a breeder or pet store you are adding to the numbers yourself of the animals that are being euthanized every day.

Not only is it responsible to spay or neuter your pet but it is equally important to place identification tags on your pet. This way someone can help bring your pet back to you if they are lost. 1 in 5 animals will be lost at some point in their life. There is also a simple way of microchip identification that is simple and fast to do and it really is a great way to make sure you pet can be returned to you. I recently adopted a puppy from a shelter and they including this in the adoption fees. I feel much safer knowing that he is micro-chipped in case he ever wondered off.

With how many times a female at or dog can breed in her lifetime it is crucial that you spay her. Here are some startling figures to look at....

A female dog and her puppies are capable of reproducing over 67,000 in just six years.

A female cat and her kittens can reproduce over 400,000 offspring in only seven years.

Seeing those figures really can help you see how just your one dog or cat that you think is no big deal that she is not spayed can reproduce. So each one dog or cat that is fixed can help control the population of animals to help put an end to animal homelessness!
