Best vacation destination? In this writers opinion it is San Diego.

True ,it does have the perfect weather, winters rarely below 50,summer ,rarely above 80.

Beaches, museums, proximity to mountains, desert and other resort areas.

For starters take in Seaport Village. A quaint section of San Diego that includes shops, restaurants, cookie village, sidewalk clowns and a spectacular view of San Diego harbor.

View the U.S Navy aircraft carriers as they sail by, great sailing vessels.

Go to the embarcadero section and see the Star of India,a sailing vessel that belongs to the San Diego Maritime Museum.

A few miles outside of San Diego is the wonderful town of Coronado.Cross over the Coronado Bay bridge and you are ready to enjoy a wonderful experience.
The destination of choice for presidents, stars, royalty, sports figures, artists and authors (The Wizard of Oz was written on the island's sunny shores), Coronado has attracted the famous and not-so-famous for more than 100 years.

A true shoppers paradise with many of the top retailers in the world.
Then there is the historic Del Coronado hotel.

For zoo lovers there is the world famous San Diego zoo.over 100 acres of 4,000 rare birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, botanical gardens and $50 million of bioclimatic habitats. Features include animal shows, bus tours, Children's Zoo, and Ariel Skyfari. Experience the new habitats of Tiger River, Gorilla Tropics, Polar Bear Plunge, and Ituri Forest.

Further north from the Zoo is Sea World.Home of Shamoo.

For wine lovers there is the Temecula Wine country. All wineries are open to the public for one of my favorite pastimes, wine tasting.
This just one hour north of downtown San Diego is chock full of all sorts and types of wine.

Getting back to San Diego proper we can visit Old Town. Here you can enjoy of being part of the old west.Overlooking Old Town, is the Junpero Serra Museum in Presidio Park. Here, the site of California's first European settlement and mission, founded in 1769 by the Franciscan Father Serra, has been lovingly preserved. A few miles east through Mission Valley lies the Mission San Diego de Alcal, where services are still held in the original mission chapel.

Enjoy horse racing, you got it, Del Mar race track."where the surf meets the turf"

Later stop at Del Mar Plaza overlooking the Pacific for some of the best sunsets in the world.

Museums your thing, well here in San Diego are some of the worlds finest.
Junipero Serra Museum
Marine Corps Recruit Depot Command Museum
Heritage Park Victorian Village
Mission San Juan Capistrano-yes where the swallo's come back to.
Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego
San Diego Automotive Museum
San Diego Hall of Champions
San Diego museum of man.
San Diego museum of Art.

I have only just touched upon the wonders of San Diego.

Come and enjoy your self.
