After examining all the things that have come out in the press in recent months concerning Britney Spears, I have to say that I agree with the judge's decision for Britney to temporarily relinquish custody of her sons to Kevin.

As the reports come out, it has become increasingly obvious that Britney needs to grow up and start taking responsibility for herself and her actions. Recently, she has attempted to duck out of court-mandated drug tests (by changing phone numbers or not answering the phone, and then giving lame excuses for this behavior), and ran a red light while holding a cell phone up to her face with her sons in the back seat and the appointed court monitor in the passenger's seat. And as a parent, something that really bothered me was hearing that Britney had to be ordered to childproof her house. Shouldn't her home already be childproofed, considering her older son is already two years old?

Most reasonable people, when faced with the judge's various orders with a threat of losing custody of their children, would be trying to do everything in their power to change and be on their bets behavior in order to be in compliance with the judge's orders. Sadly, it appears this isn't the case with Britney. In fact, it almost seems as if Britney is purposely trying to do everything she can in order to permanently lose custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James.

I've heard some people try to excuse Britney's behavior by saying she was young when she had her children. Considering I was just a little younger than Britney when I had my first child (I was twenty-two when my oldest was born), I don't buy this excuse. After having my first child, I realized it was time to settle down and that my life wasn't my own anymore - I had a child to think about and that I had to put the child's needs ahead of my wants and desires.

I really hope Britney can get her life together and be in a position to be able to have a relationship with her children (preferably in a situation where she can have joint custody with Kevin). But, if she is unwilling to change her behavior and get herself together, then it would be in the best interest of the boys for Kevin to have full custody.
