Islam teaches that Allah is One being, Unique, Eternal, not created, having neither parent nor progeny, and that nothing else is in any way similar to Him. Allah has no gender. Allah is Omniscient and Omnipotent but not Omnipresent.
Muslims believe Allah (the Arabic word for "God", used by Muslim and Christian Arabs alike) created the universe and everything in it. Allah knows everything, past, present, and future.
Because Allah knows everything, and our views as human beings are necessarily limited, we kind find the greatest peace, comfort, and success by learning and following what Allah has taught us about life. Therefore, we find the greatest joy security in surrendering our will to Allah's, as He knows what is best for us, better than we know ourselves.
We believe that Allah created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve in English, in a similar manner and from a similar substance. Adam and Eve together succumbed to the Devil's temptation in the Garden, repented, asked and received Allah's forgiveness, and then were set on the Earth to begin the work for which mankind was created: to worship Allah and care for His creation.
We believe that, because Allah loves all of His creation, he did not merely put us on the earth and say, "Good luck." He gave us rules and guidelines for getting the most out of our lives on earth. He communicated these rules to us through special human beings - prophets. (The first was Adam, Allah grant him peace.) To five prophets, he gave codified books of information. These were Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus, and Mohammed. (Allah bless them all and grant them peace.)
The books of the first four prophets were told and retold, translated and retranslated, edited and added to, until the parts of the original Divine messages were changed or lost.
Finally, when the human race had the infrastructure to preserve a document intact, Allah sent the Qur'an (the name means 'recitation'), his final revelation, to Mohammed the son of Abdullah, in Makkah, now in Saudi Arabia.
The Holy Qur'an has never been altered. Qur'ans printed today in North America or Malaysia, are exactly the same in every word as the earliest copies, handwritten a few years after Prophet Muhammed's death and authenticated by dozens of his companions who had memorized it during his lifetime.
Muslims believe in
1. Allah, the One True God. (Allah is the Arabic word for God. Arabic-speaking Christians also call God, Allah.)
2. Allah's communication with human beings
