The concept of free will began for many people with the KJV of the Bible and the story of Adam and Eve.According to the story written in Genesis, the ability to freely choose was evident the moment they were given a choice. Is free will is a choice that we are able to make without interferance from those around us.? Many times as in the story of Adam and Eve, there will be times when our freedom to choose may become influenced by others. There may be times when our freedom to choose is simply not a choice at all.Life or death is not always a choice in which we have the ability to decide. There are many instances that free will is not a matter of choice, many times the choices that are available to us are not meant to be.For example,we cannot choose to be someone other than who we are.
The concept of free will is evident in day to day living.Throughout the day we use our ability to choose often. With every choice there are consequences, sometimes good, sometimes bad.In some cases, our ability to choose is not afforded to us.Many times we are simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The concept of free will does not always apply to young children. There minds are not yet developed enough to make wise decisions ,such as what foods to eat or what time to go to bed, however children still have the inherent skills to speak out against abuse,to tell someone they can trust about being abused. The freedom to choose is often limited in young children, however that freedom is still available to them. A child can say no to there parents, although in the case of what time to go to bed, more than likely the child's freedom to say no will not change the decision of the parent as to what time said child will go to bed.Regardless of the outcome, the choice to say no was still available. The consequences for the childs decision to say no may however have negative results. The concept of free will can be quite confusing and also may be harmful to children, especially in the case of abuse.A child does not choose to be abused, that is the choice of the abuser.
We must understand that although the freedom to choose is available in many instances,it is not always going to bring about positive results. Many times our freedom of choice is taken away from us by others who also have the right to choose.
Although the concept of free will has both negative and postive results. When given the opportunity to freely choose, there is often a price to pay. The old saying that nothing in this life is free can apply to the concept of free will.
