safety. Something NASCAR has to be pleased with.
Since then the CoT, now dubbed Car of Today, has made a huge difference in the styles of racing and competition levels. Once large powerhouse Hendricks, whose drivers finished 1st and 2nd in the championship last year, has yet to win a Sprint Cup race in 2008 with any of his drivers. Instead it is Gibbs racing, partnered with Toyota, and Roush Fenway Racing, partnered with Ford, that have come to the forefront with numerous wins. Carl Edwards, of Roush Fenway Racing, has the most wins to date with three.
The CoT is now a part of NASCAR and has both good points and issues that cause it to be either the darling of the racing world, or the ugly stepmother. However, it has provided more safety to the drivers, and has been proven so when driver Michael McDowell flipped the car at least seven times during a routine qualification. He walked away with only a limp, and was checked out by medical personnel how acknowledged the fact he was just fine. His car was still completely intact although damaged beyond repair, but the previous car would have caused much more serious injuries and possible death.
Many drivers and other NASCAR officials did not believe that Michael walked away from a horrid crash.
Thank you NASCAR for stepping up to the plate and providing a safer car for the great NASCAR drivers. The CoT is certainly worth the wait and effort you put into it.
