A Master of Business Informatics is a postgraduate, advanced degree in the area of Business Informatics. Individuals with various backgrounds can apply for this advanced degree, however most degree programs prefer individuals with bachelor's degrees in Business and Computer Sciences. On the whole, this degree requires a combination of coursework in the areas of Information Technology and Business Management.

Master of Business Informatics degrees, often abbreviated MBI, offer students the opportunity to take additional courses on their areas of specialization or diversify their undergraduate degrees with various related subject areas. Most MBI programs offer courses in business technology, industry methods, and management principles.

Students pursuing an MBI will take courses in applied computer science, internet technology, computer programming, information systems (including information security), and even website engineering. Additionally, courses in the software engineering management and IT (Information Technology) department management can also apply towards this degree.

Individuals who seek employment as project managers, systems analysts or designers, information technology managers, and consultants can all benefit from obtaining a Master of Business Informatics. Because each of these positions require a certain degree of competency in computer and business skills, an MBI will undeniably increase their knowledge in the aforementioned areas and help these individuals become more marketable in their respective fields.
