With any goal or dream perseverance and determination are key. You can do anything you want to if you set your mind to but you also have to take steps every day to get to where you want to be. Everyone has dreams and goals but many people become caught up and forget to take those small steps everyday towards attaining your goal.

So, you have your blog and your content but you want to make money with your blog. In order to do this you need people to read what you publish, you need good page rank, you need to get into the search engines and many times your blog will need to be well established first.

If you have a blog you are a webmaster and you should learn as much as you can about ethical SEO (search engine optimization) and about what not to do. The higher your page rank is and the more readers you have the more money you will make. Things like technorati page rank, followed incoming links, blog description, tags and keywords have an impact on the success of your blog.

Don't fall for the "get quick results" scams that exist to improve your page rank, get you reciprocal links and all that. Most of those schemes are unethical and they can get your site banned from the search engines. The best things you can do are:
1. Write useful quality content that stands out. Don't be afraid to write about many topics, the more you know and talk about the more chance you have to attract readers.
2. Network with other bloggers by reading and commenting on other blogs that interest you. The more blogs you visit the more friends you will get and these friends will often return the "reading and commenting favor".
3. Use relevant keywords in your blog and use these keywords in your blog posts!
4. Don't post spam all over the web about your blog, this turns people off and will keep them away from your blog.
5. Do use your blog address in forum/ email signatures.
6. Exchange links with the blogs you read.
7. Update your blog consistently with good content and reply or return the favor when fellow bloggers comment on your blog.
8. Submit your blog to google blog search, technorati.com and other popular blog directories.

I have found many fellow writers and have visited their blogs, many of them have great content but nobody will ever find it because they have not taken the steps to expand their readership. Nobody comments on their stuff and their page rank is very low. Having a blog is hard work but you can't simply write something, publish it and expect the readers to come flocking to you.
