Also we need to remember children learn from example so it is important to show them how enjoyable reading can be.
Introduce your child to places such as libraries at an early age. Not only will enrich their reading experience with a vast array of titles to choose from it will also teach them how to respect books as they do not belong to them and so cannot scribble on the pages or tear off the corners. Objects people respect are always more interesting.
Use computer software programs to reinforce what children already know.... as they say if you don't use it you loose it! Programs like Letterland and green eggs and ham are great for keeping learning humorous. Technology has come along way don't be afraid to embrace it.
Spend time with your child doing exercises like dot to dot activities start off hand over hand with large exercises and watch how fast your child will progress to a more independent level.
Always encourage and reward your child with praise no matter how small the achievements children love to be praised actually don't all of us?
Including the above in your child's life is extremely beneficial towards their development. Remember to always keep it fun and simple and that no two children are the same even if they are siblings everything in life is about trial and error. With this in mind and a little love included you will have the ability to watch your child flourish before your very eyes, and there is your very own little reward.
