is there a basis to this fear? When applied to everyday life, what exactly is there to be afraid of? This leads us to an obvious question; what are ghosts?

The basic definition of a ghost in most cultures is the non-physical part of a person who is no longer living, i.e.: their soul or spirit; their essence, personality, that which makes them who they are. But many people never quite make the connection between the facts that a ghost used to be a person. Just a person.

By the time people reach their adult years, most have experienced loosing someone they knew, were fond of, or loved. So, I ask you; if this person did not intentionally try to frighten you or harm you while living in the physical plane, in a lot of cases quite the opposite, why on earth would they try to do anything to harm you after death? Even if it is someone you don't know, the average human being is not bent on making life miserable for others.

In fact, some believe that ghosts visit specific places to have interaction with or visit the people they love. Some just seem to crave a bit of recognition or attention. Now I do not claim I know everything there is to know about ghosts and their habits, but I do know one thing. Ghosts are only people, like you and I. When they shed their physical form, they did not become less human or less the person they were. So eat all the Scooby Snacks you want, just don't be afraid.
