Friends are there to listen and cheer
friends are there to wipe away the tear
friends don't judge or take others sides
they don't ebb and flow like the tides
like a tree planted deep, just always there
to listen and console you in time of need
offer advice, and is OK if you don't heed
to lift your chin when it is down
they never laugh at you, scowl or frown
they offer the helping hand when needed
worth their weight in gold it is conceded
a shoulder to cry on, and trouble shared
they don't mind if it's your soul that's bared
to put plain perspective into the world
reality check while the tornado swirls
when all is said and comfort given
they cheer you with a smile
make you see the light and walk that way
enhance your life, make you enjoy the day
and all they ask for in return
when they need you, you do not spurn
and give back what has been received
an angelic presence some do believe
so you use them and they use you
a good friend so pure and true.
So take time out to keep in touch
cause they not really a bad bunch
where would you be without your friends
billy no-mates has the answer to that
for the sad old git don't even have a cat
or a dog, or rabbit, or frog.
now think of your friends and make the time
to be there for them, as they are for you
that way you have always got a friend
when in need, of an arm around the shoulder
or for some cheerful times, even a drink
and be happy in life, its not that bad really
the more you put in the more you get out
and it's got to be better than being a trout..
every day may not be good, but there is good in every day
smile and someone will smile with you, and be happier for it.
