As I sat and watched the news about the horrors of war, natural disasters that ravage countries and the crimes that people commit, it saddens me to think that the world has become a place continually in turmoil. I ask the question, why is it so hard for people to get along, to understand one another? Is it really that important how we worship God? Is it really important that we have to get permission to help one another? Has the world got so out of touch that we do not understand one another at all?

I have thought about religion and spirituality over many years and I have often been asked if I believe in God, I have often hesitated as to the answer because I am unsure of who or what God is. I am a true believer that something helps govern our ways, that something helps keep us from doing things we might otherwise think about doing but is it truly a God of any distinction?

When the world is full of horrible things like war and natural disasters, then the feeling in the area is one of despair and hurt, of fear and dread, of questions and no answers. It then seems to start a chain reaction, everyone in the world that has a television knows how they felt on the day of 9/11 or the day the tsunami hit Indonesia or the day the bombs fell to war.

Those negative and saddened feelings were felt worldwide for every event, that horror was felt within many hearts and souls, how many people cried over those events? Since then it seems that more and more horrible events have been triggered, I ask this, is it the collective negative thoughts and feelings from millions of people around the world that is feeding this destruction within mankind itself? Could a Global Empowerment Movement (G.E.M)help create a better world?

I think it could, I think that if there is a God it is the collective worship from all the believers that cause the feeling of faith, I think that we actually have the power to help fight against the horrible side which is within each and every one of us.

If everyone in the world stopped thinking about negative things, stopped committing crimes, stopped fighting in wars and truly tried to understand one another I believe there could be a total world peace. After all what does it matter, what name god is given, as long as it achieves the strength to remain positive and strive for a better world? What does it really matter the color of someone's skin, the language someone speaks, shouldn't this just make them a more interesting person to talk to, to get to know?

I believe that G.E.M is possible and probable but enough people have to believe in it, after all most of Christianity is started from a very great story, by a very skilled storyteller. I am not saying that people should not have their beliefs, I just think that if we all shared a similar belief in positive thinking then a much greater positive reaction would start to occur and that would be a very wonderful, Global Empowerment Movement.
