Politicians and the American voter speak constantly of change. But when it is time to pull the lever, punch the chad or mark the box for the next President the fear of change determines the vote. That fear of the unknown will lead Americans to vote Republican in 2008.

There are many issues at the forefront of American Politics. The most prevalent issues being Iraq, Terrorism and Illegal Immigration. In all cases the Party that takes a hard stance will be looked to as the leader. The Democratic Party has wavered on key opportunities to make a stand. We all remember the rhetoric from 2006 and the promises of change. Yet, here we are today with the Republican strategy continuing.

The leading Democratic contender has shifted her view from pulling out of Iraq to continuing the mission. This will alienate her from her base while supporting the Republican Candidates. The leading Republican Candidates have maintained their stance throughout. All the polls in the world won't tell you the real story. Americans want strong leadership that is determined to take on the challenges that face the nation.

The American people do not like to have a Big Brother to tell them what to do. They do however want a strong Big Brother when it comes to times of global crisis. The Democratic version of Big Brother has not defined a resolution for Iraq or dealing with Terrorism. They can only say that they want change. But how? On the other side, the Republican version is defined by a) find terrorists b) eliminate terrorists.

American's work hard for their money. When political parties speak of taking more from them it builds a divisive wall. Democrats want to repeal the Bush tax-cuts while Republicans want them to continue. Will the American voter be open to giving back more to the government? This is a fact not openly discussed as of yet. This could, however, sway voters in the end.

Looking at America in 2009 it would be hard to imagine significant change taking hold. Though the media may paint a different picture; the U.S. is running strong. We tried change in 2006 and it failed. Voters will remember that Democrats promised this change but now lead what could be the most ineffective Congress in history. Come Election Day they will not be rewarded for this failure.
