Is Satan a defeated foe?

Is Satan a defeated foe? Has Jesus Christ, defeated Satan? The Old Testament Biblical book, Genesis chapter 3 goes into great detail about mankind's first encounter with Satan. Satan used the creature the serpent to contact Eve concerning the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent promised Eve wisdom, and the knowledge of good and evil. Eve also gave Adam a taste of the forbidden fruit, but neither of them became wise. Genesis 3:7, "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings." Obviously, they didn't become wise, merely ashamed. Apparently, the serpent had won round one in the battle between the forces of evil and good!

But, God had the final say concerning the serpent quoting Genesis 3:15 states, "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." In modern words the woman and the serpent were to become enemies. Her seed, Jesus Christ, would crush her enemy. Satan would bruise Christ's heel, that is be responsible for taking his earthly life. It is the first promise of a redeemer of mankind. And, the defeat of his enemy!

Every place else in the Bible it refers to human life coming into existence by the seed of a man, not the seed of a woman. In short mankind's redeemer would not have had a human father, but only a human mother. If Joesph, Mary's husband would have been the father of Jesus Christ, he would have inherited his sinful nature.

According to the New Testament Gospel according to Matthew chapter 1:18-25 quotes as following," Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: after His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of The Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angle of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

"And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which
