Transforming negative energy in the workplace

The key to transforming negative energy in the workplace must begin by identifying
its source. Negative energy can manifest itself in many ways; it can come from the way a particular company is structured; i.e. a supervisor having the authority to hire, fire and
give employee evaluations, but no say in the monetary amount of a raise an employee can receive.
This can be a source of frustration for both the supervisor and his staff and serve to undermine the supervisors authority. It can also put the supervisor in a "no win" situation where he or
she is viewed as a source of only bad news. The snowball effect being that the staff is gene-
rally unhappy and less productive.

Another common source of negative energy in the workplace are the employees who
assume the positions of jail house lawyers, always putting a pessimistic slant on things and
going about their day creating a negative, dispirited environment. These jail house lawyers
are often unaware of their own behavior patterns for it is the upbringing they have been
exposed to in the corporate world as well as at home.

The "secret" to eradicating this condition lies in getting people to live in
the present moment. Once you can truly live in the present, the poisons of yesterday, which
you can do absolutely nothing about and the anxiety that comes with trying to live in the
future are rendered meaningless. It is in this place that you can truly begin to disable
the negative energy both in the workplace as well as your personal life.
