Satan is a master deceiver, and billions of people, including this author, have been tempted at one time or another by this father of lies. When you look at all the ways he pulls people down into his black pit of sin through temptation, you would think he has a vast number of strategies which lay at his fingertips to coax us into walking blindly into his trap. But the surprising truth is, he only uses three simple methods to entice us to sin against God.

Go all the way back to the Garden of Eden where Satan first tempted mankind to sin. When you read the Bible, you will not see Satan using anything we have today to tempt Adam and Eve. In the Garden of Eden, you will not find any bars where Adam would go after a day of work and "relax with the guys" and drink a few beers, you will not find any women that would accost Adam as he walked down the street, you will not walk into Adam's house at any time while he was away and find Eve in the arms of another man, nor would you find either of them doing pot, marijuana, or cocaine. Rather, when you look at the Garden of Eden, you will find fruit trees of every kind imaginable and a man and his wife living in perfect harmony with one another and with God.

Satan, in the midst of a perfect world, approaches the woman and begins weaving his web of deceit and lies, "Yea, hath God said?"As you observe him tempting the woman in Genesis 3, you will see three things that appealed to Eve that won her over.

"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat" Genesis 3:6

First, she saw that the tree was good for food. What it was that she was forbidden by God to do was presented appealing to her flesh. It was good for food. Satan laid the fruit before her eyes as something which would satisfy her hunger. Every human being that walks on this planet has a hunger for something, such as love or peace of mind. Given, these desires are not wrong, just as Eve's desire for food was not wrong, but Satan will try to get you to satisfy this hunger with something that is not right when God has given you all you need to satisfy that hunger.

For example, many people today crave love. It is not wrong to desire love, but Satan lays sex before them, especially young people, and tells them, "Look at this! See, this is love, and you can have it now!" So, instead of seeking the fulfilling love of God, they look at the appealing
