Our interest or theirs? Celebrity and the Press

by SH

Celebrities are all the hype in magazines and television news. The paparazzi hunt down the celebrities to get a glimpse into their personal life to make money. They go to extreme measures in order to ensure the high dollar payments for their photographs. Many will cause wrecks on the freeway, and many will jump out in front of cars to take photo's of these "Gods" and "Goddesses". Some even go the the extreme of flying helicopters over celebrities houses to take photos. Celebrities have no privacy what so ever. And for this reason, it is more of a public interest in the celebrity life that cause celebrities to have no privacy.

Yes, celebrities do want publicity. Yes, celebrities do want to be on the cover of magazines and on the headlines of news programs. However, they do not want to trade their privacy for publicity. Privacy is all they have. They do have money and they do have fame, but what kind of lifestyle is it when you have no privacy? It is a miserable life;one that a person would dread. Who would want their every mistake put on the cover of People Magazine? Who would want rumors to spill out about them and have it televised on E! News? Nobody. However the public crave celebrity life. The public is savages when celebrities are involved. We, the public, are the reason celebrities have breakdowns. We, the public, are the reason when they have no privacy. We, the public, have it in our own interest to know ever detail about a celebrity. 'Can we not just allow them to live their life with privacy?' -I am sure THAT would be in the celebrities interest.
