Steroid based inhalers are preventer inhalers.Usually these inhalers can help cure asthma within 1 or 2 weeks.

Inhalers are very good devices to take medication to the part of lung where it needs. The question is whether steroid based inhalers are safe.Streroids used in such inhalers are good at preventing inflamation of lungs and breathing difficulties.Certainly steroid based inhalers are good when you have a severe asthma attack and finally you end up in hospital for weeks without using it.Also the amount spent on hospitaly stay will be much higher compared to steroid based inhaler use.

Many doctors use steroid tablets to cure asthma when they are unable to cure it with normal medications. The steroid taken into body in such situations is many times larger than amount you inhale in small quantities during even a severe case.

Many people may be afraid to use these inhalers due to long term side effects as affecting growth of young children, more prone to cataracts, thinning of bones when used for long time, susceptibility to fungal infections etc.

Many medications in the medical field has side effects also.Use steroid based inhalers when your asthma is not responding to other medications. The key is using it(inhalers) when very much essential and using it wisely and appropriately.
