Waiting For Sleep
It is early morning, and I'm still awake,
the world is quiet around me.
I knew I shouldn't have eaten that cake,
for it did nothing to tire me.
Here I sit, pen and paper in had,
and no one else is stirring.
I'm waiting for the brain command,
and now it is whirring.
Sleep is ready to come to me now,
and yet I'm still writing
I hear you saying Oh My Gosh! Wow!'
and now my eyelids are fighting.
Well, off to bed, I'm a sleepyhead,
no more delays tonight.
I'm going to climb into bed
and now out goes my light!
Zzzzzzz

Poetry: Sleep
by Jon Coe
Sleep is my most humble domain
without it, I think I would go insane
Sifting through my troubles and my woes
resting peacefully,
As I nestle into my covers
My eyelids fight to stay open
Then finally close
Thoughts run through my mind
I fret about what
by Mary Tilley
Sleep calls to me but I do not come
lying restlessly in the dark of night
hearing the beat of my heart thump thump
against
by Ruby Star
Another day we're leaving
Try to forget about the madness
As we rest our minds and bodies
We sleep away the sadness.
We close
by Honey
I close my eyes
Searching for slumber
Trying to put my mind at ease
Sleep I seek thee
Take me far away
Sleep holds the peace
