Recognizing asthma symptoms can be difficult especially in younger kids.Parents should take special care and look for asthma symptoms ,if there is a history of asthma or allergies in their families.
The major symptoms of asthma include frequent wheezing,dry cough at night,difficulty in breathing and frequent cough.A high pitched sound can be heard when the child exhales.However not all of these symptoms can be seen in all children.Some children has frequent cough,others have difficulty in breathing after exercise.
Other symptoms which can often go unnoticed as asthma include cold that lasts for weeks and months,frequent coughing only,trouble with sleeping etc.Also chest in pain after playing.
Some of these symptoms can often cause a wrong diagnosis as bronchitis,tracheobronchitis etc by some health professionals and parents.But all these symptoms above are a sign of asthma.
The causes of asthma is not yet clearly defined.Yet genetics,wheather changes , air pollution and early exposure to allergens are all the causative factors.
If as parents you suspect your child of asthma look out for any above mentioned symptoms.Consult a pediatrician pr pulmonologist in your area.The doctors will prescribe medicines and inhalers based on diagnosis.
Watching for symptoms and diagnosis is very important!
