Satan's methods of tempting are one of a top scammer. The bible says, be alert; for the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. He is described here as a skillful hunter, one who stealthily and restlessly preys on unsuspecting prey. A thief, he is called by Jesus when he said, "I came that you may have life, but the devil comes to STEAL, kill and destroy."
When a thief comes to steal, he comes without warning, he just pounces on his victim, so does Satan.
Satan first studies a person before he can tempt him/her. And when he knows the strengths and the weaknesses of a person , then he presents a temptation as an answer to your needs. For example, when he tempted Jesus in the desert, he saw his vulnerability and engaged into capitalizing on it. Before Job was tempted to see if he could curse God in his suffering; Satan was out prowling and saw what he thought were Job's strengths. In Job 1:7, the Lord said to Satan, "from where do you come?" Satan answered the Lord and said, "from going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it." also here we see the skillfulness of Satan' studying ways of scumming people.
It is always something that is legitimate to the cause of any kind that you will be tempted on. One could be having marital problems and Satan will present somebody who empathizes with you, and you think this is the answer to my problem, but it is a trap. As it is ethically immoral to have an extra marital affair, it is nothing but a temptation from Satan. You might also be working for a company that is making profits illegally, and you plan to embezzle funds to benefit the poor. That is stealing and this will defeats the effort and purpose of your giving, and it is a clear temptation in black and white. He also works on our ignorance and on how much we know about the word of God, as he himself being the fallen angel knows all scripture in and out.
We hear of the agents of Satan who present themselves in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. So Satan does not present himself in camouflage or mascaraed to tempt you; but he will present himself as a savior to your needs and desires. Only the Word of God will guide and lead us to the truth so we can evade Satan and overcome his evil skims. for all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine , for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, so it is also given to elude Satan's methods of temptation.
