Poetry: The blues

I'm feeling kind of down
Because I have the blues.
I'm going to leave this town
That's yesterday's news.

There's no point in staying.
My girlfriend is gone.
So what's the use of praying.
I'm leaving at dawn.

I'm all packed up.
I'm ready to go.
I've got nothing to lose.
And nothing to show.

The blues will disappear.
I'll see to that.
I'll have a better year
Like a purring cat.

So goodbye dear friends.
It's time for me to split.
For this is the end
I won't miss you one bit.
