What are human rights? It depends on who you are and where you live. Do you know that if you are a brick-maker slave in China that you are a slave and will amount nothing more to than a slave. Then if the modern media gets hold of your story you can expect to be release from your burden but after the dust settles you can expect to beg for your food. What is you are Britney Spears and can pay for a car you hit and a little more? You can settle out of court with your victim. You can enjoy considerable more human rights.
Human like every thing relative is relative. If your are a member of the masses of Burma or Pakistan, your human rights are determined by the strongman of the day. What if you are a slave in 2007 in the Sudan? Your rights are a little more than a cattle's but only because your master can communicate with you in a language he can understand. That is what my theory of human rights is.
Human can be pawns in wars. Human can be tried for treason by those who are abusing power. Human can be beheaded based on (justly or unjustly) accusations of treason. At that that can happen is you happen to be a human born in Pakistan and on the wrong side of a political struggle. Human right have come a long way since Rosa Brown sat at the white section of the bus. Human rights have come a long way since Nelson Mandela was released from Robin Island Prison. Human rights have come a long way since King Henry the 8th, ruled England. Human rights have made tremendous progress since the rule of Caligula of the Roman Empire.
What is human rights? It depend on where the pig lives. If they pig says "that some animals are more equal than others" then that is human rights. If the pig eat what is set before it, that is human rights. Most humans don't pick their humans rights, they get want is given to them. The world isn't America. Some people done get the benefit that the prisoners of Guantanamo Bay have come to take for granted. Canadians have a great level of human rights. If they can afford the lawyers. They can even enjoy more human rights if they can pay the lawyers for the amount of time it takes any case through the courts, the appeal courts and the supreme court.
Do you ever think what life would be like if you were a woman in Saudi Arabia? Try driving on your own or doing errands without supervision from a male person. Maybe your own son, but a male minder. What is you are a descendant of the untouchables of India? Maybe you are out of the caste system but maybe your circumstances beg for the stability of "the good old day."
What is you are a Palestinian? You are the low man of all your brethren and also of Israel. How would you feel if Israel you so despise give you more rights than the Arab states of your neighbors? How would you like to be jerked by everybody and your brother? Human rights. If you can read this without worry, you have more than your share of human rights.
