Standardized testing in America is just another way for companies to make money. There is very little relationship between your test scores and your intelligence, ability, or potential as a student. Schools use it because it is an easy way for them to boil people down to numbers to streamline the admissions process.
The SAT industry loves it because it creates the opportunity for hundreds of expensive and seemingly necessary products, SAT classes, SAT books, and the fees themselves.
That said, the best way to improve your score is not by trying to learn anything. These tests do not test your knowledge, but rather, they test how good you are at taking the test. Thus, the best way to prepare is to take as many practice tests as you can. As you go through and correct your mistakes, you will start to catch onto all of the little tricks they employ in the multiple choice answer structure. Once you master these tricks, you will definitely improve your score. It's that simple.
