Being vegetarian in todays age is not so weird, walking among countless people trying to conform to some type of stereotype is odd. The one thing that gives me hope is this! When I go to a drive through or a restraunt today, year 2007 at least people know what a vegetarian is! I have been not eating animals now for over 20 years, and back then people thought that vegetarians were some sort of vegetable scientologist. Well I have some classified information to reveal. People now can go to a drive through or restraunt and order any number of entree's and explain that you want it with no meat. You can actually order a chicken ciabatta sandwich made just the same but without the chicken. I think this is the most amazing breakthrough of all time. Yes we can still have that delicious looking pasta plate with the melted cheese and red sauce piled high with sauteed garden vegies and tender slices of old worn out chicken, yes without the chicken. I have felt so left out from society for so long, so left out of great cuisine that meat eaters have been able to enjoy. Not anymore, not this vegetarian. True story to add to this already enlightening article of sorts. Back in high school around 13 years ago now I would play jokes on the drive through associates. I would sarcastically in great detail and straight faced explain through the little drive through microphone my order. I would explain that I would like the double bacon cheeseburger and fries and a large soda, but please hold the bacon and also please hold the burger patty. As I wait to hear the confused response from the drive through professional I would crack a disheveled smile and a raise of my eyebrow. Moments later with utter confusion lingering through the crackle of the little microphone, the reply would come through. "You said you wanted a double bacon cheeseburger and fries and a large soda, right?" That is when with all my might and all the respectful composure my parents had taught me went right out the window. I would respond back in a very rusty voice laced with discontent "no I said I want a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and large soda and hold the bacon and the burger patty". At the moment I would end that sentence a riot of laughter would spill from the car. Back in those days I always received the distraught answer from the drive through microphone, "ummm Im sorry we can't do that it comes with the bacon and the burger patty". Like I mentioned earlier, vegetarians can travel from near to far and receive high quality normal food minus the poor dead animal.
