Short stories: Loneliness

I sit here underneath this maple tree waiting for you. I wait here and wonder if you will keep your promise. I wonder how long I will have to wait here before you come. I listen to the wind wondering if it has ever been lonely, like I am. The buses pull out from under the shade of the brick wall. I look it to the windows and the kids are laughing and smiling. I frown as I realize you probably will never come. I look at the tree which we were supposed to meet at and realize that the branches are bent and twisted.

This tree stood alone, all by itself. I looked up and analyzed how the sap was dripping out of a little hole in the trunk. It almost looked as if it was crying. I figured it was lonely. I sat back down at the bottom of the trunk. I figured it was going to be a while and we both needed a friend.
After sitting under the crying tree for 10 minutes I realized you were never going to come. I stood up and gave the tree one last look. It looked so sad. I knew it had felt the same way as me, sitting there all alone. I walked to the end of the patch of grass where the side walk started. I looked back and saw that the tree's sap had seemed to clear up.
I walked a little ways down the side walk and the thought of you meeting me came to my mind. I forgot the note. I went back to the tree and stuck my hand into a little hole. I pulled out the note. I began to read: " Sorry I couldn't meet you today. I had to go home early. I promise that I will meet you here tomorrow." My eyes watered because I know you won't be here. I walked home in disappointment.
The next day while waiting for you I sat under the crying tree to have some company. I managed that day not to be lonely. I sat and read my book on world War Two. I felt as if yesterday I had made a new friend. I took a tissue and wiped the sap off of the tree. I decided if I was going to sit under this tree everyday I mind as well give it a name. I chose the name Garrett because I thought it was looking over me when ever I was waiting for you.
After a few days of sitting under the tree fallowed by me walking home disappointed, I decided to bring a book called the giving tree to Garrett. I read it to Garrett. The crying tree quickly became a good friend. I spent more than an hour everyday with him, reading and talking to it.
After more than three months of sitting with the tree I was no longer disappointed. He finally came to meet me. I left the tree alone that day and for the next few months after. The fall and winter came and I forgot about the tree. After being disappointed again, I sat under the tree for the first time in a while. I then proceeded to try to talk to it, I realized that the sap I had wiped away had returned.
