Old Slew foot, The Guy In The Red Underwear, Horns, Pitchfork, The Enemy, Father Of Lies, Deceiver; These are all names and symbols of Satan. He was the most beautiful archangel in Heaven. However, that wasn't good enough for him. He wanted to be equal with God.
He assembled his cohorts and caused a rebellion. Wrong move. He and his buddies were kicked out and cast down to earth. Now we're stuck with him.
Today, he uses the same tactics as he did in the beginning. One of his favorite lies is to infer doubt upon God's word. In other words, he implies that God is a liar and we shouldn't trust Him.
He tempts us with the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. It's not wrong to acquire money, enjoy sex, take pride in your work, or any of the other normal pursuits we may desire. It's the position they play in our lives and how we arrive at those goals.
It's the LOVE of money, the illicit affair, the eighty hour a week job, cheating on a test. These are just a few of Satan's methods in enabling us to fulfill our needs.
It's the little white lie that doesn't matter, he whispers in our ear. It's the grudge against our neighbor, an unforgiving heart or the color of the skin. The rationalizations which proves we're right. Subtle lies wrapped in deceit and self-protection.
We will continue to be "up for grabs" as long as we live. However, we all have choices. We don't have to listen to the lies, or act on false information Satan willingly gives us. We are equipped with a conscience.
We can also obtain support through prayer and fellowship. We're not meant to stand alone. We need one another. Remember, we're all human. None of us will ever reach perfection.
