Parenting Advice
Just to let you know that I am not a professional, and all this is is advice about how to get good kids from one parent to another. This is just my opinion and I have seen first hand that what I am doing seems to work. I know that all parents think that they have great kids but it really isn't just me that thinks my kids are really well behaved, so I really think that what I am doing works.
1. Love Your Kids...Do this unconditionally. No matter what the situation or the problem, with your help they can work through it.
2. Listen...Kids always have something to say and even though they may just be talking for the sake of talking, if they know that you are listening then they are more likely to talk to you when there is something more important to say.
3. Support Them...Even in times when you may think that they are making the worst decisions of their lives. You can question what your kids are doing but always let them know that in the end it is their decision and you will support them in whatever they decide.
4. Have Fun...They are only young one time, so let them enjoy it and try to enjoy it yourself.
5. Respect All Children...When you show your kids the utmost respect then you are teaching them to have the same respect for you and other people. Kids who respect things and people will be much better behaved then kids who have no respect for anything or anyone.
6. Let Them Have Their Own Opinion...You can't tell kids how to think. To be their own people they need to know that having their own opinion is okay and that their ideas matter to you and those around them.
7. No Isn't Always The Right Answer...When your children ask you if they are allowed to do something different from what they would normally be doing, take the time to listen to why they want to do it before you say no. You never know they may have a really good or well
thought out plan for what they are proposing.
8. Protect Them...Children are unable to look after themselves in every situation, that is what you're there for. You need to look out for them and make sure that you do everything in your power to keep them safe from the outside world, and teach them how to keep themselves safe when you can't be there to help them.
9. Teach Kids to be Independent...Don't let them rely on you for everything. Whether that be doing things for themselves or thinking for themselves you should never be in the habit of doing it all for them. It's good for kids to have to do that for themselves or how
