What it means to be civilized.
To be civilized means to be able to live in harmony with one another.
Hum... I don't think we are there yet. Don't you agree? As a matter of fact, I think we took a wrong turn in Albuquerque!... We are possibly going the wrong way, in my opinion... Way... off-course...
The more time goes by, the more mankind strays away from being civilized. We can pretend to be so, we can even lie to ourselves but the truth is we are anything but civilized. We are cunning, deceiving, envious, dishonest and selfish. We even kill our neighbors in the name of 'Civilization'. What civilization!?... We have destroyed entire Native Civilizations, robbed them of their territory, calling THEM savages. Because they were naive, without knowledge of technology and science, we labeled them 'under developed' and took advantage of their innocence. We could have learned so much from them for they knew what was most important about life: harmony with nature and fellowship. Instead, we destroyed both nature and people calling it progress.
Today our governments are still fighting wars for reasons we have yet to comprehend. Sacrificing thousands of innocent lives from every country. To what avail? The hidden causes are still the same: Greed, envy, vanity and the insatiable thirst for power. The power that will eventually destroy us all.
What it means to be civilized? Most certainly not what our men of power seem to believe...
