first weeks of fast weight loss can be a real boost for the start of your diet but it can also be depressing when things settle down to your true average of one or two pounds weekly. You have to keep in mind that those first few weeks, you are losing mostly water weight. After that, it's true fat loss that is kicking in.
There are ways to kick start your body into losing weight, several ways in fact. One of the most important is to drink water. Not just a glass or two, but between six and eight glasses of water a day. Most of us don't get enough water and to combat that our bodies will hold onto it. By drinking more water, your body learns to let go of the excess instead of holding on to it with a death grip. I mean water too. Not diet soft drinks or coffee or tea, but real water. You can have your tea and your coffee, but it should not be confused with, or counted as, water.
Eat three meals a day. It doesn't matter if you start with dinner and end with lunch, but eat at regular times every day. Some people find that eating five small meals a day works for them. Others find that eating three meals a day with a couple of small healthy snacks will carry them through. Try finding which set amount of meals with the right amount of fats, proteins and carbohydrates works best for you and then stick to that regime.
Don't forget to plan your meals in advance so that you know what you want to get from the grocery store. Don't go hungry otherwise you my end up bringing home tons of unhealthy that you will regret buying. Always plan your snacks too and buy accordingly. Fresh fruits or vegetables, pretzels, a handful of nuts will help to satisfy the hunger and keep you on track.
Another little trick to help kill the hunger monster is to make a big pot of vegetable soup and keep it in the fridge. When the stomach monster starts screaming "Feeeeeed Meeeeeee", you can grab it, heat it and eat it. Instant monster killer.
Make sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet. Fiber helps you to feel full for a longer period of time and will also keep things moving right along in the old bowel. Becoming irregular is so unpleasant a feeling and the fiber will help to alleviate that problem. One little trick is to drink a glass of water with dissolvable fiber half an hour before your main meal. You will find that you will need less to eat to feel full there's that added benefit of maintaining bowel health.
Keep track of what you are eating. You will find it helpful to pointing out weak areas
