What's the fastest way to lose weight?

So you've taken a look in the mirror, perhaps screamed or maybe just whimpered a little. Svelte has long since hit the road. Lean is a faint memory. Tubby doesn't even begin to describe the shape facing you in the mirror. This time instead of grabbing the baggy sweats and covering up the evidence of all the love affairs you and your stomach have had, you resolve to go on a diet and to lose the love handles, the duck waddle and that truck tire you are carrying around your middle and you want to do it FAST.

Whoa Charlie, just how fast are you planning on going? Are you hoping to lose it all in a month or two? Well, dreams make the world go round, but in this case reality is going to grab you in the old Glutinous Maximus and it's going to hurt.

Let's face facts. It took you years to get where you are now, not a couple of months. However the good news is, if you stay diligent and concentrate on your goal, it won't take years to get it off.

However, I can tell you two secrets to losing weight as quickly and as healthily as possible. It's amazingly simple and yet many people have yet to discover it. First, the quickest way to lose weight, is actually to START doing it.

Being a procrastinator myself, I've planned my diets to death. One year my best friend and I had a contest to see who could lose the most. We both had the same amount to lose and we bet $100.00 on it. She started and I planned. At the end of the year, she had lost 25 pounds, I had lost 6 and a hundred bucks. Putting it off, talking and thinking about it doesn't get the job done. And thats the first big secret that I learned the hard way.

And the second? Quite simply, one has to keep on keeping on. Even when you're bored with it, when you're missing your fried chicken or your fried eggplant or when all your friends are pigging out over chips, guacamole and beer and you want to hit them all with a bat and just chuck the ole diet.

How fast is it going to go? Pretty fast. It may not seem like it, but considering how slowly you put it on it the first place, taking it off can be fast.' Okay, cut to the chase, how fast is fast?'

Well, the average person who is working hard to lose weight will see between one to two pounds gone each week. That is after the initial first three to four weeks where one can see as much as seven pounds a week just disappear. More if you're a man. Unfair to all of us women, but it's a depressing fact that men will lose the weight quicker than women will.
