A shadow flees through the night
Swift and stealthy
A demon
with glowing red eyes
She stops
in front of a bistro
Moves in,
closing in on her prey
No one
will escape her
tonight
She is not seen,
this demon shadow
and no one runs in fear
Nor do they notice
her presence
Instead they sit
and chat
and sip their lattes
She slips inside
without opening the door
Searching for someone
anyone
to serve as prey
Her chosen prey
is the young poet
sitting alone
scribbling in her notebook
the words flowing
from brain
to pen
to paper
Suddenly
the flow stops
As the shadow
enters her soul
This young poet
cannot scream
Her voice is cut off
and frozen
Her words,
no longer her own
as the shadow
creeps through her soul
She is overtaken
by Fear
and Depression
and Negativity
afraid to write
for fear of rejection
no longer able
to express her individuality
The demon shadow
with red glowing eyes
has made her
a mindless clone
of everyone else
