Men may be delightly surprised if they knew what women really need to be happy.
Most men think that money or expensive gifts is what their wives will crave and cherish the most. Well, they must think twice on this because most women will cherish the smallest unexpected things.

Of course there are some special thoughtful gifts that will make her eyes shine with happiness but what you are giving as a gift is perceived differently from a woman's point of view.

Let's say your wife is struggling with washing the dishes. A dishwasher of course will seem the most appropriate gift in this case. Once received, your wife will be ecstatic as this will have made her life easier and she will not have to soak her hands in filthy soap and water any more. But she will not see the dishwasher as solely her relief, rather she will see this as a gesture that you do care for her wellbeing and will do the best to accomplish making her feel better.

This is why gifts especially expensive ones are not the direct way to win her heart.

Sometimes a hug or a word said at the appropriate time will create a deeper feeling than a 100 buck gift certificate to her favorite shopping center. The truth is, even though she may go on a big shopping spree, this gift will not be retained in her memories as strongly as an apology from her husband out of the blue.

Try asking your wife if she recalls all the birthday presents you have given her since you met her or got married. Very likely she may remember one or two and the others are in limbo area already.

What does this mean? Usually, the human mind will carefully select what memories to retain and which not to, this is done by sorting them out by importance. Those gifts have gone down the drain along with memories of movies seen in the movie theaters, books that were read, names of people that have no longer importance, and many other tiny details that are unnecessary in every day's life.

Most likely she will remember those two or three major gifts because they were very important to her or aided her to accomplish something important.

What a man should understand is that gifts may make women happy but this happiness is temporary and tends to be forgotten. Women will still appreciate and want gifts for special occasions but they are not vital to her wellbeing.

At this point then it is necessary to figure out what really makes women happy.
