Why college football programs in southern states have more bowl game appearances

The only reason college football teams in southern states have more bowl appearances is because football teams in southern states are historically more dominant and consistent than those of the north.

The S.E.C. alone boasts 6-7 bowl participants a year. You'd be lucky to get half that number from either the Big 10 or Big East. Lets just take a look at the teams in these conferences to support my argument. In the Sec and Big 12 alone we have such programs as Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, LSU, Goergia, Texas, and Oklahoma. All of these schools have won National Championships!

Throw in Florida State and Miami of the ACC and there are two more National Championship winning representatives. Because of these schools great history, they are no doubt going to attract the better players which in turn leads to better teams.

To further prove my point, lets name teams from the Northern regions of the United States that have as much clout as those mentioned below. Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and the list pretty much stops there. Unless you want to throw in Nebraska just for argument's sake. There isn't even a comparison...you all are either delusional or in denial.

I mean certainly a 8-4 Rutgers team might get passed over on a bowl-bid for a 7-5 Georgia team. But honestly, how many wins would Rutgers have if they played in the SEC? Not even close to eight wins. Michigan and Penn State would be equally troubled trying to contend in such top-heavy conferences. Ohio State is the only team from the North that I see being able to compete year in and year out with any of the aforementioned SEC teams. Especially this year given Penn States woes and Michigan's losing to a Appalachian State.
