Guidelines for presenting yourself professionally on Helium

give joy to my life. Now that I've gained some diverse experiences, I have some ideas to share. I love quilting almost as much as holding babies.

Writer in the house: As a writer well-known in the quilting community, I have written for Quilter's Way and the Jonestown Gazette. Web writing has expanded my portfolio. My Helium articles fill the Craft subchannel. I write regularly on town politics, social values, pregnancy fitness tips and, my pet project, promoting environmentally conscious gardening methods. My articles are as diverse and colorful as the master quilts I show and sell throughout western Canada, and my passion as a writer is as deep as my love for my three children.

Notice that the "writer in the house" version does not lack heart, but the text focuses on writer attributes before others.

If you've never been published before writing for Helium, do sell your other expertise. For example: "My career dedicated to inspiring business leaders in Fortune 500 and start-up companies now circles the globe on the Internet. My articles on entrepreneurial spirit and streamlined management tips cross channels in business, personal finance, psychology and international politics."

Writers, use your gift with words to reflect or create your writer identity. Point to your successes, and clarify your areas of expertise. Stand by your words, with your name, face and professional bio complete on your About Me page. Get noticed by publishers and advance your writing goals now.
