Novel Excerpts

Novel excerpts: Fantasy

When the Earth was born it was small and weak. Like any new life it needed protection and guidance to survive in those first days. So the Creator took the remaining bits of energy and created the Spirits.

Spirits had no physical form. They had no use for them. Instead they flowed like wind over the Earth, nurturing it, guiding its early growth. The two, Spirit and Earth, became inseparable. The Earth drawing upon Spirits to survive and grow every stronger and the Spirits putting so much into the protection and nurturing of the Earth that it became the only thing they could do.

So the Earth grew and flourished under the care of Spirits. It molded itself into the shining sphere of land and sea that begged to be filled with life. And so the Creator breathed life into Earth and animals came into being.

When the molds were finished the Creator bathed them in the energy of creation to give them life. Unlike the animals they had more than just life. Instead of just surviving they sought out pleasures. Their entire existence was an orgy of feasting their senses in any way that was available to them.

When they hungered they ate. When they felt thirst they drank. If they desired to feel the sun on their skin they lay bare beneath its rays. They were the cause of the first death for they hungered for meat. With animals so abundant they choose the finest and feasted on its flesh.

But they were as far from evil as the Spirits were from good. These concepts had no meaning. Both Spirit and Beast were merely what they
