Essays: High school

High school can be the best time of your life. Of course, that usually means you peaked early. For the rest of us, this time of hormone-driven insanity is the most difficult thing we will experience, at least until the dreaded "quarter life crisis."
Looking back on those four years of laughter, goofing off, and making a big to do about nothing, I wonder, "What was I thinking?" After all the things I went through to try to be popular, I have now discovered how little I am impacted by the opinions of others. I have forgotten over half the people I knew back then, and it's been less than ten years since I graduated.

There were 312 people in my class. I live in the same state, and I've only run into about five of them in the past seven years; that's only because of the marvel that is Facebook. There are people I'd love to see, but they seemed to have vanished into thin air.
If I could give advice to the younglings who are in high school now, I would tell them to enjoy it to the fullest, and not to sweat the small stuff. One day, you'll look back on this time, and you'll wonder why most of the things you worried about even mattered.
High school. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the era of pagers; it was the era of Pokemon. I laughed, I loved, I stayed out past curfew.
And you couldn't pay me to do it again.
