Time: A Priceless Commodity
Those with only a little of it left would give anything to get more. Those with a lot of it don't realize its value and squander it.
What is my time worth? What is your time worth?
The laws of economics say that everything is worth what its purchaser is willing to pay for it. So time is priceless.
My time is priceless. So is yours. The question is, do you value it that way?
No matter what you are PAID for your time, add value to it to make it what it should be. How do I suggest you do this?
* Whatever you do, don't stop learning
Why is student loan debt frequently referred to as good debt? Because anything that you use debt to acquire that appreciates in value is considered good debt. Education is considered an investment that appreciates in value.
Constantly devoting yourself to continual learning makes your time priceless.
* Learn from your troubles
Orson Scott Card said of one of his characters that he did not have obstacles; he had stepping-stones. Make all of your obstacles into stepping-stones. Learn from your mistakes; learn from your difficulties.
Turning obstacles into strengths makes your time priceless.
* Work within your circle of influence
Descartes says in his Discourses that there is absolutely nothing within our control. Learning that we cannot control everything around us releases us to deal with the things that we can influence.
Work on those things:
How you respond to difficulty
How you treat other people
Your attitude
By not wasting your time on things you can not control you focus on what you can influence.
Focusing your time on the things within your influence makes your time priceless.
No matter what others think your time is worth, no matter what your boss thinks your time is worth, I am telling you that your time is priceless.
Now get out there and treat your time that way. Learn from everything and everyone, challenge yourself, grow as a person, invest in yourself and don't stress about things you cannot control.
