How many times in life have you met those people out there who are just complete jerks? It seems the world is full of them today, and that good people are just running out. But what characteristics make someone a good person? Is it their actions? Their attitude? It is actually a mixture of the two, and a few other things as well. Most everyone can agree that it is positive actions that make good people the good people they are. Actions such as sharing, helping, and supporting friends and family. It is also qualities that make them good people. Qualities such as honesty, righteousness, selflessness, and many other qualifications that make people a good person. There are slight differences in opinion on the specifics, but it can be agreed that it is definitely the display of positive characteristics that judges if a person is a good person or not.

You can tell when you have met a good person. It's the person you see helping the stranded motorist on the side of the road. Good people help that complete stranger who they know nothing about just because they know it is the right thing to do. When bad lucks falls on their families heads, they are right there to pick up the slack, and lend them any aid that they need. If any other their loved ones need help, a good person is always there to help them. It's actions like these, selfless actions, that can help to deem a person with the title and respect of being a good person.

One of the most important qualities in a good person is selflessness. Nothing says being a good person like giving to someone for no other reason than to help them. Helping those in need is what good people do. They do whatever they can, and give as much as possible, sometimes even until it hurts them. People remember who help them, that isn't something that most people forget quickly, and that will definitely make you a good person in their book.

Honesty is also a very important characteristic in a good person. Many of us are faced with situations everyday when we could be dishonest. How do you know you can trust someone when your back is turned? Yet you can trust good people. You know that when you are not watching, they are being just as honest as if you were right there with them. That is an important characteristic that everyone seeks in people, and is definitely one present in good people.

It can be hard to tell if someone is a good person. They can act like they are good when being watched, but it is nearly impossible to know how people act when no one is watching. Good people are out there though, and if you give people the chance to display positive characteristics, you may just find some good ones. Look for the most positive characteristics possible, and make your judgments from there.
