Best hairstyles for round face shapes

One key to looking more attractive is to find the best hairstyle for the shape of your face. How do I determine what shape my face is, you might ask? Identifying your face shape is simply a matter of taking the measurements of your face from side to side and from top to bottom and then doing a bit of math to come up with the equation. When measuring side to side, the widest point will be somewhere about halfway between your eyebrows and your hairline.

When your face is round, the measurements will be approximately the same for both. There is no single best single hairstyle for a round face. Many factors will enter in, such as naturally straight, wavy, curly or kinky, fine, medium or thick and how much volume it has. Still, there are some general guidelines you can use to try different styles to make the best of your round face.

One suggestion is that you add some height or fullness at your crown by backcombing or by lifting your hair up and spraying the roots. This creates the illusion of a more oval face.

Short hairstyles can make the neck look longer and will look best in a layered style. A chin length bob is very sleek. A curly style can be very attractive, but should be brushed or trimmed away from the cheek area. Light, layered bangs, a part on the side rather than the center and some strategically placed highlights are all good ways to address a round face.

For long hair, layers are again the solution. Flat, long tresses will simply drag the face down, but soft, shiny, layered curls are just the ticket to give light and loveliness to a rounder face. Hair can be swept up and away from the face for a stylish hairstyle that is a sure winner.

The best solution is to look at as many pictures of hairstyles as you can, and see what's working for other women with round faces. You will quickly see which styles appeal to you and from there can choose the best fit for you. After all, each woman is individual, and finds her own confidence.
