A man does not necessarily have to do anything to make his wife happy but just love her and let her know it by words, thoughts and deeds. He will, after sharing living space with her and being there for her when she is not herself; supporting her when she feels weak and out of control; and getting to know here physically, mentally and spiritually, get to know her 'like a book'.

Adjustments will necessarily have to be made when the honeymoon period is over, but these will tend to cement their relationship; or should. If he loves her unconditionally she will know it and this should make her extremely happy; however loving her means accepting her as she is, it does not mean giving in to her every whim. His first priority is to love her as much as he loves himself and that means not being a sacrificial being to her.

A happy wife is a reciprocal wife. He strives to make her happy and because she is happy she will be appreciative and welcoming of his love and affection. When she feels lacking or are having problems she has no need to go behind his back and seek ways of getting her own way. Being happy does not mean getting everything you want. Sometimes being happy is being simply knowing the difference between what is needed and what is only wishful thinking.

Marriage is a wonderful institution but none of them are 'made in heaven'. They are sanctioned by higher powers but since the years together are lived on earth, this out of necessity, means hardship and sacrifice. A truly good marriage, even, has its share of negativity. These are overlooked, thought through, or outgrown as couples grow in love together.

At the first sign of what looks like neglect a wife may moan, 'my husband does not love me'. Maybe he thinks the same thing about her. A little communication may be in order. It is give and take for both. But this does not imply that either have to be a slave or a scape-goat for the other. Sadly this kind of relationship happens if the two does not get to know each other fully before making that final commitment.

Cut the tie that binds and run is not always the best solution either. If it is not fully understood what caused the problems, the pattern of looking for love in all the wrong places will continue on throughout one's life. Some people, men and women, simply never grow up. They are so in need of love they seem never to have the time to give it; or know how.

Therefore the best way to get a your husband to love you is to love him. Yes, it is even possible to love him even though you do not particularly like him. In that I mean he may be doing what goes against your principles and you cannot go along. Fine. But don't stop trying to get him to change his erring ways by loving him; this is not the same as giving in to him when you know him to be wrong.

The first priority is to love others as you love yourself, and to not allow others to do to you what you would not do to them. Yes, that's the golden rule and it never fails.
