The health benefits of lemons

The health benefits of lemons are numerous. Who doesn't like a nice glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, sweetened of course. Still other than being a nice cooler lemons have a tremendous amount of Vitamin C which we know is fantastic for the immune system.

Also lemons may help some individuals who suffer from headaches. I myself have never tried this, but have heard from others that it works. Mix a little bit of lemon juice with your coffee and the headache should go away.

Also lemons are listed as one of the foods that are an anti-cancer agent. That alone is a major health benefit for those of us looking for ways to avoid cancer. No one wants cancer and if adding a little bit of lemon to your day may prevent it, what's the harm?

Also having a glass of water with fresh lemon squeezed into it can do two things for you. One is that it can help keep you nice and regular, taboo to talk about I know, but sometimes we do need a little help in that area. Lemons help with many areas of the digestive area and can also act as a diuretic so they are good for those with urinary tract infections. Secondly for those of us who want to lose weight, this lemon water solution may help shrink your stomach. Not a significant or dangerous amount, but rumor has it that it will a little.

Lemons mixed with water are also good for nausea, heartburn, hiccups, and worm infestations. A glass of water with lemon taken in the morning can will stimulate the liver to produce bile to deal with the days food intake. Some think that lemons might even dissolve gallstones, hasten healing, bring down fevers. Lemons with water are also thought to relieve those suffering from asthma, tonsillitis, and sore throats.

Lemons can also help people who suffer from arthritis or rheumatism because lemon juice helps flush out toxins and bad bacteria from the bodies digestive system. On the external matters, lemon juice on something absorbent can stop a nosebleed, and when applied to the gums can stop them from bleeding also. Mix a little bit of lemon juice with glycerin and you have a good lip balm, and believe it or not but apply some lemon juice to your skin and you can prevent sunburn before you go outside.

Lemon balms, which are highly concentrated lemon tonics can be used to treat people who have excessive gas, menstrual cramps, dizziness, hypertension, and may also boost your mood while calming your anxieties.

So as a cancer preventing, immune system boosting, stomach shrinking, keeping us regular, and helping rid us of headaches kind of fruit. I would have to say that lemons have numerous health benefits, and we are only beginning to see them all.
