Then you need to ski "New England style."
You have heard it said that "if you can ski in New England, you can ski anywhere." True enough, we may not have the high altitude mountains of the West, but, the unique and difficult terrain make New England some of the most difficult skiing in the world! Combining an unpredictable climate with an inclement fall line known to our mountain ranges, New England offers unparalleled ski challenges. Our resorts offer the winter enthusiast comfort combined with rustic luxury, and you'll need it after a run down one of our slopes! The hearty meals that our restaurants are known for will refuel your body as you continue to apply your skill among the most diverse skiers in the world. There are so many ranges to choose from, so, let me tell you about some of my favorites.
If your are looking for a rumble, then go no further than Sugarloaf. This is one of Maine's most well-known treasures. Akin to a street fight, The Rumble at Sugarloaf has it all. Although Sugarloaf has recently undergone major renovations and improvements to accommodate the masses, it is still a thrill. Part of the Castlerock area this winding and narrow trail combines bumps, jumps and trees for you to negotiate. This trail is what many a skier refer to as the "finisher".
Like the "fearsome foursome" in football, Goat at Stowe, Vermont is a ski run you will not soon forget. If you can navigate through the winding path and take in a deep breath that you've made it, the tremendous vertical drop will catch your cookies! Yeah, buddy! Take on the Star afterward and you will know that this is not for the faint at heart.
Get those heart paddles ready to shock you back among the living and breathing!
I'm talking about the "Shockwave" at the Sunday River in Maine.
Not among the most popularly known, as nearby "White Heat" gets most of the notice, but, Shockwave is steeper and a bit more difficult than White Heat. So for your own test of skill, try this amazing run!
Stand and deliver! Are you ready for the "Ovation" at Killington in Vermont. This is what "standing room only" trails are made of! Once you begin down this steep terrain, you almost feel like it is some kind of optical illusion...it just keeps getting steeper. So, hold on boys and girls, you're a snowball on a downhill pull!
"If you can't bark like a big dog, then don't get off the porch!"
