Should governments negotiate with terrorists?

"...Of course; The Only Road to Understanding Is The Argument Of Force."

If we negotiated with people in the first place we would not make 'terrorists' out of them later on. The fact that we deliberately use the term 'terrorist' as a means of closing any dialogue with organisations or individuals who have a different way of living than us, seems a bit suspect. What makes a terrorist? I don't believe that people just wake up one morning and decide to make it their live's work to hate the US or Britain. I believe that terrorism is another term for 'freedom fighting' and is the result of underhand tactics by an imperialist nation/s to subjugate another people for profit or political gain. When the people of a nation feel that their way of life, resources, language, religion, culture and freedoms are being threatened and reasonable discourse is denied to them, individuals will defend those values with their lives. As they have no armed strength they are forced to operate using guerilla warfare tactics to publicise their greviances. We in the Western World have created terrorism by expecting to possess everything we see whilst expecting it free or as cheaply as possible, regardless of whose values or freedoms we have downtrodden to get them.
