Finding the right hairstyle for you

Finding the right hairstyle is something that is so important these days, but why do so many people get it wrong?

It's simple, people aren't choosing styles that suit the shape of there face or there skin tone. The key to finding the right hairstyle is looking at the shape of your face and the tone of you skin (that is if you wanting to dye your hair too).

Some pointers and tips for the right hairstyle for your face shape:

-Oval shaped faces tend to look best with shorter styles that have emphasis on the chin and cheekbones, this can be made by having layers in the hair around that area. You should avoid short layers that can make the face appear longer.

-Square shaped faces should opt for a lighter look, you can get away with short spikier hair or long flowing layers. You should avoid blunt cut bobs and fringes, they will make your face appear squarer.

-Round shaped faces should go for styles that make there face look less "round", opt for soft gradual layers. You should avoid chin length bobs and short curly styles.

-Long shaped faces should aim for a shorter style with a fringe that can make the face appear shorter. You should avoid very long or pixie cropped styles.

-Heart shaped faces tend to suit any style, aim for a fringe that is swept to the side for extra oomph. You should avoid short, bluntly chopped fringes and harsh layers.

If you plan on dying your hair at the same time you need to closely look at the tone of your skin and then choose the color that will suit you best.
Tips and pointers about skin tones and dying your hair:

-If you plan on dying your hair blonde, if you have a yellow undertone stay away from deep gold colors, if your pink skinned stay away from strawberry colors and if you plan on doing blonde yourself don't go more than a few shades lighter.

-If you plan on dying your darker colors, if your pale, be wary of very dark colors as they could make you appear even paler.

The best thing you can do is book a consultation with your hairdresser and talk about which styles would suit your face and which colors will suit your tones.

Look through hair styling and beauty magazines and take as many pictures as you can with you and make sure you like what you pick, there's nothing worse than walking out of the salon looking worse than you did when you came in.
