I never expected to be expecting. I wasn't prepared for pregnancy or parenthood. For 9 very long and large months I lived in a world of worry and what ifs. But the moment my baby girl was born into my life everything changed. My purpose was revealed in the eyes of my sweet child.
I will admit that I had no idea how wonderful my world was going to become with the birth of my daughter. I believe that I did my best to be positive throughout my pregnancy, and as hard as I forced myself into my faith those 9 months, I was still bound by certain fears. No matter what anyone says, becoming a mother is a scary experience, and becoming a single mother was for me pretty petrifying. I had no idea what to expect and I didn't have a partner to process the magnitude of the miracle nestled inside of me.
Everyone claimed that motherhood was going to change me. They said that nothing else would matter once she was put into my arms. I wanted to believe them, but how could I without really knowing.
But, oh now how I know!
Everything about motherhood fills me with joy. The love I give to my daughter is the purest love I have ever emitted. I would lay down my life for her without a moments thought. She means everything to me and I see now that my life was empty before her abrupt arrival. I will also admit that having had such low expectations initially has made every single moment with my child all the more marvelous.
But selfishly, what I adore most about motherhood is my daughter's innate love of me. She loves me more than anyone ever has. She has filled a void that she was made to fill. Motherhood is the most magical blessing that has ever been bestowed upon me. So being a first time mother, who may be an only time mother, I am so very thankful for what was originally a mistake and is now my most beautiful miracle.
