Teenage boys are notoriously hard to please. Nevertheless, it is still possible to throw a party that they will love. Often you will find that a boy only wants to invite other boys to his party. Perhaps he is just discovering girls, and feels shy around them. It's his birthday an he just wants to relax with his buddies. So let him!
Here are some ideas:
FILM FEST
Have a film themed night. Set out your largest room like a cinema, make bowls of flavored popcorn, and fill them up with pop in the intervals. Choose films appropriate to their age.
BARBECUE
Always popular. Tell your neighbors you'll be having music and noise in the garden until late - invite them in too! - and hire some halogen spot-lights.
KIDS PARTY
This is fun for older teens. Serve ice cream and jelly and get some kids games going. Set up the tables outside, and get some really silly games going - the rougher and messier the better!
KARAOKE
This can be added to any other party, really. Beg, borrow or hire a karaoke machine and let the kids do the rest. Hire some instruments and let them see what it's like to be in a band.
SOCCER SENSATIONS
Either take the boys to a place that will let them do some training, or hire in a trainer. Set up the goalposts in your back garden and off they go. Theme the food, and put on a football video when they are all tired.
PAINT-BALLING
Always a great afternoon out.
ASSAULT COURSE
See if there is one near you where you can take the boys
BOWLING
Again, a very popular evening out. Arrange for them to have food at the bowling alley and get the parents to pick them up from there.
BEACH PARTY
Take the boys to the beach to play volleyball, swim and perhaps surf. Provide lots of towels and food! Make sure there's a lifeguard on duty. If you don't live near the sea find out if your local swimming pool offers life-saving afternoons, and take them all for a pizza afterwards.
BARBECUE
Sounds boring? Get them to make their own food! Boys like cooking as much as anyone else. Provide the ingredients for them to make customized burgers, pizzas, salads and popcorn. Have some in the freezer in case they mess it all up! They can all take turns cooking it afterwards.
Whichever theme you choose, turn up the music, provide lots of food and they'll love it!
