Podcast advertising has become increasingly popular as technology has evolved. Podcast producers who sell advertising space during their podcast have found a lucrative market. Selling advertisement space for a podcast is a little more complicated that selling banner ads on your website. Following the advice below will increase your chances of successfully selling advertising space for your podcast.
Before marketing advertising space for your podcast, ensure that your subscriber base is large enough to reach a number of viewers. Advertisers are willing to pay for advertising that produces results. If you subscriber base is too small, advertisers may shy away from your podcast.
There are three general areas in which advertising during a podcast fits best. The beginning, middle and end. While some podcasts contain advertisement in all three segments, many podcasts only advertise in one area. Careful judgment of your customer base is necessary, too many commercials will cause customers to lose interest in your podcast.
Should you decide that advertisements will be available in all three time-slots, you then must determine advertising rates. Many podcasters charge more for advertising at the beginning of the podcast. These advertisements are aired prior to the podcast and have a higher number of fresh prospects.

Many podcasters have also implemented the use of Ebay to list advertising space. A simple auction or a fixed price listing can gain many advertisers. Allow the advertiser proper input on creating the advertisement.
