This deceptively simple contrast in views, accounts for two lines of thinking that have themselves become a battle ground for the soul of America. But should it be that way?
Jesus Christ dwelt among us during a time in history ripe for spiritual revival, and social reform. Christian or not, anyone on the side of equality in the treatment of individuals, and a judicial system that is impartial, complete with punishments fitting the crime, would have to agree that the Rome of that day fell desperately short of even remotely resembling respect for human rights. Yet, a study of Christ's life reveals a complete void of any kind of push for reform on a social scale. Everything taught throughout His ministry dealt with the individual.
As believers, and followers of Christ's example, we cannot allow ourselves to be caught up in attempting to stay the tide of decay in a world that is destined for destruction. By Biblical principles, and the living example of Christ Himself, we are as believers to submit our will to God's, and concern ourselves with the individual lives He has entrusted us to know. Christians are called to trust in His plan, not just for our own lives, but for the world we live in. To step forward into each new day, confident that God truly is in control.
