Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Great first day. No real arguments. Some decent scenery in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Fall colors still lacking but no complaints. First thing to do after check-in, find a bar/restaurant. Probably won't stay for the band, but definitely try a local brew, eat food and watch sports. Perhaps even a little quarter ante video poker. Seems a lot of these prairie states allow gambling.
Before finding a restaurant, stopped by the campus of Augustana College. (Another couple things J and I have in common is seeing college campuses and cemeteries-sounds more morbid than it is.) Campus at Augustana a little disappointing, but had a few interesting gargoyles on the buildings, etc. Bar called Nutty's served up good bar food and got to try a new brew called Hempstein (Not sure of spelling-had more than one.) Great first day.

Billings, Montana. Saw Mount Rushmore. It's as sublime as they all say it is. Honestly, one guy conceived it and he and his son and about two hundred other sculptors did the work. Absolutely awe-inspiring. Did not get to see the Crazy Horse Monument as we actually got snowed on. Did buy a few trinkets and got out of the snow. Rest of Dakota was nice.
Spent more time in Northern Wyoming than we thought before pulling into Montana. People in Montana not as friendly as expected. J's laughing at me. She says I'm always bragging about the west. On a side note. Rockies kicked ass. One more win and they're on their way to the series. They are kicking ass.

West Yellowstone, Montana. Trip from Billings went fast and they let us check into the hotel early, so we got quite a bit of time in at Yellowstone. Got within four feet of a real live Bison. Talk about majestic. They just come up to you. Not afraid of people-which could be dangerous. Towards the end, we finally got a peek at a herd of Elk. Awesome. Grew up seeing them in Colorado, but still a sight to behold. Great day and not a bad night. So far, this is the best vacation ever-and I've been to Europe twice. J and I are doing things at the same pace. No fighting. This utterly absurd, insane road trip is exactly what we both need. To put a cherry on the sundae, my Colorado Rockies are going to the World Series for the first time in their existence.

Boise, Idaho. Long day. Drifted into Utah for a short while as J had never been (and I hadn't been
